报告内容:

Low salinity waterflooding appears to be a cost-effective and environmentally friendly means to improve oil recovery by increasing hydrophilicity. However, the controlling factor(s) behind this process remains unclear. This research characterized wettability of oil-brine-rock system from nano to pore scale through a combination of experiments and geochemical modelling, providing insights to better model multiphase flow at subsurface. New findings can also help to constrain the intrinsic uncertainties of CO2-assisted EOR with respect to wettability alteration.

报告人简介,Dr Xie holds a lecturer position in the Discipline of Petroleum Engineering, WA School of Mines: Minerals, Energy and Chemical Engineering, Curtin University, Australia. Dr Xie studies fluid-rock interactions, fluids flow in porous media with a combination of experimental, analytical, and numerical approaches with applications in Improved/Enhanced Oil Recovery, unconventional reservoirs, and CO2 geological storage and utilization. As an active researcher, Dr Xie has been engaging in a number of research-driven and demand-driven funded projects focusing on water-assisted EOR, chemical-EOR, and unconventional reservoir development. He had/has been supervising 6 PhD students, 10 master degree students. Dr Xie has published more than 60 peer-review research articles on SCI journals for the past four years since joining Curtin University and is the corresponding author/first author of nearly 80% of his publications, and more than 15 SPE and SCA conferences, etc.

Dr Xie got his bachelor degree in Applied Chemistry in 2005, and master degree in Oil and Gas Field Development Engineering, mainly focused on EOR, from Southwest Petroleum University (SWPU) in 2008. From 2008, he pursued his PhD in the Overseas Research Institute of Oil and Gas Engineering in China University of Petroleum (Beijing). Dr Xie started his career in 2011 in the Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development (RIPED) of PetroChina in Beijing. He has/had been heavily involved and lead in Chemical-EOR, Low Salinity Water Flooding, and CO2 sequestration, which were funded by CNPC, Geoscience Australia, Shell, and Ministry of Science and Technology of China during the past six years.
