Masks to Foreign Teachers and Visiting Scholars Abroad from Southwest Petroleum University

"I received your masks, and I am really touched. Thanks to Southwest Petroleum University!" Recently, Mr. Hou Zhengmeng, a distinguished professor of Southwest Petroleum University and a tenured professor of Clausthal University of Technology in Germany, received an international mail from our university, which contained 50 masks and a greeting letter signed by Party Secretary Zhao Zhengwen and President Zhao Jinzhou.

With the spreading of COVID-19 epidemic abroad, masks around the world are in great shortage. The school considered that masks were urgently needed by foreign teachers and Chinese teachers studying or visiting overseas, so it decided to send 50 masks to each of them.

The school specially appointed personnel to collect information and mailing addresses of overseas teachers. Based on detailed investigation and statistics, there were 65 teachers staying in more than 10 countries including Germany, Canada, Australia, the United States, Egypt, Britain, and Singapore. The responsible personnel called all of them to learn about their health conditions and confirmed their mailing address. With careful arrangement, a total of 3,250 masks and 65 greeting letters were mailed from Southwest Petroleum University to all over the world.

English teacher Robert currently lives in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. After the epidemic outbreak, he delivered livestream classes to students in China at his home. For this reason, he had to adjust to the 10-hour time difference. The students like him very much and study very hard. After receiving the mask, Robert said to his students: "During such a special period, the university has us in mind. I hope that the epidemic will end soon and I can return to school in China as early as possible."

Sang Min, an Egyptian teacher, said excitedly when she knew the masks were on their way to Egypt: "It's really a surprise. We are just lucky to work in such a nice university and such a country like China!"

Zhang Huaixiu, a teacher retired from our university, was visiting relatives in Singapore and temporarily detained there due to the epidemic outbreak. After receiving the mask, she shared her joy in WeChat Moments.

Yu Hua, a visiting scholar from our university in Australia, wrote a letter of thanks to our university after receiving the masks. He said: “After I received the comforting greeting letter and mask from the university in a foreign country, I am really touched. I just love my university and my motherland.
