On July 3^rd, Dr. Husham Yas Shaalan, Director of the Training Department of the Iraqi Ministry of Oil, and his delegation visited SWPU. SWPU Party Secretary Zhang Liehui, Vice President Zhou Ying, and Dr. Husham Yas Shaalan had a discussion and exchanged ideas.

Zhang Liehui pointed out that he hoped to take this opportunity to further deepen understanding, enhance friendship, consolidate consensus, extend cooperation, and jointly serve and promote exchanges between both sides in the fields of oil and gas energy, new energy, and education.

Dr. Husham Yas Shaalan extended gratitude for SWPU faculty’s hard work in cultivating Iraqi students and training employees of the Ministry of Oil in China. He stated that in the future, the Iraqi Ministry of Oil will continue to recommend outstanding students to study in China in the emerging directions such as artificial intelligence, new energy, and clean energy. He hoped that both sides will take talent cultivation as a bridge to deepen cooperation in the energy field between China and Iraq and to achieve more high-quality achievements.

During the meeting, both parties exchanged gifts and took a group photo as a souvenir. 9 Iraqi students shared their academic experiences at SWPU.

After the meeting, Dr. Husham Yas Shaalan and his delegation visited the National Key Laboratory of Oil and Gas Reservoir Geology and Development Engineering, as well as the learning and living environment of international students.

Mr. Riyadh Abdulsahib Azeez, Supervisor of Studying Abroad Office of the Training Department of the Iraqi Ministry of Oil, Lu Lize, General Manager of ZhenHua Oil and heads of relevant departments of Zhenhua Oil attended the meeting.
