On October 11^th, Grade 2024 Opening Ceremony, sponsored by “Zhenhua Oil Scholarship Project”, was held in Southwest Petroleum University. Lu Lize, General Manager of China ZhenHua Oil Co., Ltd., and Zhang Liehui, Secretary of SWPU Party Committee, attended the ceremony.

This is the 3rd year of “Zhenhua Oil Scholarship Project”. By now 39 outstanding Iraqi international students have come to study in Southwest Petroleum University, and they have gained a lot of opportunities to improve and exercise on the platform of the project and have achieved good results.

Lu Lize hoped that the international students would adapt to the campus life as soon as possible, cherish the valuable learning opportunities, make full use of the learning resources, and seize the opportunity to improve their personal abilities. He encouraged the international students to engage actively in scientific research, bring the knowledge and skills learnt in China back to their home countries and contribute wisdom to the development of Iraq.

Al-Ani Omar Gheni Azeez, the representative of international students, spoke at the ceremony, saying that he was grateful to the Iraqi Ministry of Oil, China ZhenHua Oil Co., Ltd. and Southwest Petroleum University for making his dream of studying come true. He stated that the opportunity to study in beautiful China was very rare, so he would endeavor to learn knowledge and advanced technology. When he returns home after studies, he would work as a window for Sino-Iraqi exchanges and contribute to the development of the petroleum industry of both countries.
