From August 22ndto 27th, the 9thSino-Russian “Yangtze River – Volga River” Youth Forum was held in Saratov, Russia. More than 300 Chinese and Russian youth took part in the event, including representatives from 5 provinces along the Yangtze River, namely Sichuan, Anhui, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan and Chongqing municipality, as well as representatives from 14 subjects of Russian Federation along the Volga River. Gong Lei and Wei Mengying, teachers from School of Foreign Languages, SWPU, attended the forum as delegates of Sichuan Province.
As the Chinese youth representatives and the interpreters for the Sichuan delegation at this forum, Gong Lei and Wei Mengying undertook the interpretation of the Tea Ceremony Showcase on the evening of August 23rd, the interpretation of the visit to the Saratov State Conservatory on August 25th, and they hosted in Russian the “China Day” opening ceremony, the concert and the temple fair themed non-heritage display activities on August 26th. They accomplished their tasks successfully with serious and rigorous working attitude, exquisite and skillful language skills, sincere and cheerful communication ability and team spirit, and won unanimous praise from the leaders, staff and participants of both Chinese and Russian sides.
Sino-Russian “Yangtze River – Volga River” Youth Forum is a humanistic complementary activity within the framework of the local cooperation mechanism and a brand project of youth exchange and cooperation between the Chinese and Russian regions. It is organized by China and Russia by turns.
